The Runaround: 2014 Midwest Regional Tournament (Women's)
The Grace Bible College women’s basketball team will be traveling 8 hours north to Northland International University in Dunbar, Wisconsin this week to kick-off the 2014 Midwest Regional Tournament as the #1 seed for the first time in the program’s history.
For the women’s regional tournament set-up, both the #1 seed Tigers and #2 Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University will receive a bye in the first round, awaiting their Friday semifinal match-ups. With the #1 seed, the bracket is set up for Grace to automatically play the lowest seed of the quarterfinal winners. With this being the case, the Tigers have the possibility of playing either the winner of the #4 Moody Bible Institute vs. #5 Northland International University game, or Kuyper College if they pull an upset over the reigning NCCAA DII National Champion Maranatha Baptist Bible College in the #3 vs. #6 game.
As mentioned above, the women’s squad is entering the tournament for the first time ever as the #1 seed. If they go on to take home the regional title up in Dunbar, they will be the first team in program history to win the regional tournament as well. The last time the women’s basketball team has had similar success was in 2008, where they made the final four of the NCCAA tournament after receiving an at-large bid after falling in the regional finals to Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
