  • Men compete in 10k and half marathon

Saturday, November 9, 2013, the men’s cross country team traveled to Lansing, Michigan to compete in their last race of the season.  Trenton Loomis had set a personal goal to run a half marathon before the end of the year, and he fulfilled that goal at the “Run-a-Munk” half marathon at the Woldumar Nature Center.  The other men and Coach Stowers all ran the 10k.  The race was a trail run, very hilly, full of roots, leaves, curves and scenery.  Everyone commented on what a challenging course it was!

This was Trenton’s first half marathon, and what a challenging way to start your half marathon career!  He placed 3rd in his age group with a time of 1 hour 46 minutes and 56 seconds.  He received an award for finishing the half and for 3rd place.  Richard Mooney also received an award for placing 1st in his age group in the 10k with a time of 46:51.  Jean Louis Martinez was 2nd in his age group with a time of 49:32.  Coach Stowers was first woman in the master’s division (it’s an age thing) with a time of 56:25.
