Late Run Propels Grace Against Davenport JV
Sophomore Rod Altidor pulls up over the Panther Defender.
Grand Rapids, MI – Grace welcomed Davenport University’s JV team to the Aldrich Athletic Center last night for what turned out to be 40 minutes of very exciting competition.
The Panthers quickly jumped out to a six point lead right off the tip, and kept a slim lead until Grace was able to put together a streak at the end of the half to build up to a 47-42 lead headed into the locker room.
The second half got off to a slow start for the Tigers, as they immediately gave the lead back, and only had one field goal in the first four minutes of the half. Grace was able to put together another run at the midway point to knot the score up headed down the stretch. Down 79-78 with the clock dwindling, back to back three-point shots from Ben Kronemeyer and Eric Zudweg put the Tigers up 84-79, and ultimately would give them the victory. The final ended up at Grace 86, Davenport 83.
Zudweg led the Tigers with 22 points, on 8-11 shooting from the field. Rod Altidor followed with 20 points, and Ben Kronemeyer chipped in 18. Altidor led the squad with 10 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season. Evan Przybysz led Grace with 5 assists, and managed the game well with 0 turnovers on the night.
The JV squad will return to action this Saturday, traveling to Hope College to take on the Flying Dutchmen at 12:45 PM.
