Grace signs two-time All-Conference guard, Joe Dekkenga
The Grace Bible College Tigers signed 6’0” guard Joe Dekkenga Friday morning at Coopersville High School. Joe is the son of Jodi and Scott Dekkenga, and has a younger brother Nicholas (9th Grade) and a younger sister Hannah (7th Grade). Joe was a two-time 1st-Team All-OK Blue Conference player under head coach Pete VanKempan at Coopersville High. Joe also was the catalyst in a great turnaround at Coopersville, where they went from winning only one game his junior year to playing in a district championship his senior year.
Joe on why he chose Grace – “I chose GBC because of the winning program they have put together in the past years, and for the close knit campus and great academic program. Grace treated me like family coming in.”
Coach Dave Oldebekking on Joe’s signing – “Joe is a high character kid, who will be a great fit on campus. We are really looking forward to the next four years. Additionally, after watching Joe play quite a few times in high school we just knew that he would fit in really well with what we do as a program, he is very fast and athletic, and can guard a couple of positions on the court. He can get to the rim with the best of them, and we are looking forward to see what he can bring on the court.”
