  • Cross Country team welcomes Nicolas Brown out of Grants Pass, Oregon

Nicolas Brown out of Grants Pass, Oregon has committed to run for the Tigers this upcoming fall.  Nicolas is the son of Pamela and Doug Delong, and has three sisters – Makenna (22) and twins Janae and Jess (16).

As a sophomore at Grants Pass High School, Nicolas received the most outstanding JV athlete award and was captain of the JV team, as well as finishing 13th out of 150 runners at one of the toughest races of the season.  Nicolas ran for the varsity squad his junior and senior years.  He was named captain for his senior year, and was also named Most Inspirational following his final year at Grant Pass High.

Nicolas on why he chose Grace Bible College –

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ESV)

Paul tells us that we need to run as if to obtain the prize. If I make my prize something that is not worthy like a medal, or a ribbon, then I'm running for nothing. Going to Grace will train me with the knowledge to train my body to control itself, and to run for what is important, which in all cases is God.

And because Grace is pretty rad.”
