Coach Stowers Completes Bayshore Marathon
Coach Stowers crosses the finish line after 26.2 hard-fought miles.
Grace Bible College Cross Country Head Coach Lisa Stowers recently completed her fourth marathon on Saturday, May 24th, at the Bayshore Marathon in Traverse City, MI. Her first three marathons were run over ten years ago in consecutive years (1999, 2000, 2001), so Coach Stowers trained extensively to prepare herself for this race.
“I trained for this for 20 weeks, and my goal was to break 5 hours, so I am very happy with my time,” said Stowers.
Her final time ended up being 4 hours and 32 minutes, which was well beneath her 5 hour goal. With her finishing time, Coach Stowers ran at an average split time of 10:24 for the whole race, and she noted that the last 6.2 miles were the toughest. She ended up placing 59th out of 95 runners in the 45-49 female age group.
