When Karen came to Grace, women’s athletics was still in it’s infancy.  Karen’s leadership was immediately demonstrated and honored with the first school victory.  Statistics were not kept as accurately as they are today but Karen led the team in almost every category her freshman and sophomore year, averaging over 22 points a game.  Because the main degree offered by GBC was only a two year degree at that time, Karen only played two seasons.  She was the first recruited female athlete at Grace.  She was voted the teams MVP both years even though a serious knee injury ended her career late in her 2nd year.  Her 34 points in a single game stood as the record for 11 years and is still the 9th best single game soring in GBC history.

This is Karen’s second Hall of Fame induction.  In 2002, she was inducted into the James Wood HS Hall of Fame in Virginia, honoring her stellar athletic career.  Karen was a three sport letter winner her senior year and was awarded the top athlete award for all three sports.

Karen is married to Tom Drenth.  Three of their four children were students at Grace at one time.  Karen is a Certified Personal Trainer.
