The Lady Tigers faced a much tougher Andrews side Monday and fought their way to a 2-1 victory in Berrien Springs. After thrashing Andrews 10-0 earlier this season Grace came into the match knowing Andrews would be better on their home field. Debbie Pekel began the scoring with a nice shot over the goalie midway through the first half. Andrews would respond minutes later on a long, perfectly placed shot by Ciara Weir. The second half was much like the first, with Grace dominating possession but unable to break through the tight Andrews defense. April Philipi picked up a loose ball and placed a great pass to Debbie Pekel, who found Autumn Befus streaking towards the Andrews goal. Autumn buried her shot in the back of the net and Grace had the 2-1 lead. The Lady Tigers continued to press the attack, but were unable to score again. Lindsey Anible faced only 1 shot in the second half. Coach Teesdale: "We may have been tired after our long trip, but a lot of credit has to go Andrews for playing a very solid game. They gave us quite a battle. I'm very happy with the result and the toughness of our team." Full Article >
