    Jason Werkema

    Dr. Jason Werkema is Professor and Chair of Worship Arts at Grace Bible College, Grand Rapids, Michigan.  With expertise in acoustic, classical, bass, and jazz guitar, he is distinguished in Michigan as a leading guitar instructor. An accomplished musician, he has performed concerts in churches, recital halls, and schools throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, including a series of performances at the World’s Fair in Sevilla, Spain.  He has participated in guitar master classes and/or private study with renowned guitarists including David Russell, Sharon Isbin, Alice Artzt, Chris Buzzelli, John Holmquist, Brian Morris, and Paul Vondiziano.
    Previous to his current position, he earned a Bachelors of Music degree from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a Masters of Music degree from Bowling Green State University, Ohio.  His Doctor of Philosophy degree is in Higher Education Leadership from Western Michigan University.  He has served as an adjunct professor at Calvin College, Cornerstone University, the Grand Rapids Community College, and as a graduate teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University.  Dr. Werkema was also a founding member of the Grand Rapids Guitar Quartet.  He currently maintains www.JasonWerkema.com, a website that provides learning resources and video instruction for guitarists. Above all, he celebrates his identity in Christ and passionately looks for ways to share God's grace with others.
    Interests include reading, photography, audio and video production, kayaking, fly fishing, golfing, camping, card magic, and especially family time. He and his wife, Darcie, have three children and a little black dog named Buttons.

    Kayleen Bobbitt

    Dr. Kayleen Bobbitt is a faculty member and Professor of Music Theory and Piano at Grace Bible College. She received her undergraduate training at Moody Bible Institute and Trinity International University, where she graduated Summe cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Piano Performance.  She then received a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance, with High Honors, from Central Michigan University. She also holds a Post-baccheloreatte Degree in Elementary Education from Calvin College.
    During her career, she has held a variety of musical positions and responsibilities, including Director of Music at Berean Bible Church (now Rush Creek Bible Church); Director of Music for Sola Scriptura (an evangelical ministry now based in Orlando, Florida); accompanist for  Grand Rapids Men and Boys’ Choir; church accompanist;  concert pianist with Keys 2 Transport; and faculty member at Calvin College, Aquinas College, and Grace Bible College, where she has taught since 1980.
    As an employee of Sola Scriptura, she performed annually for a Scripture conference in Herefordshire, England.   She has traveled throughout the United States directing and accompanying Grace Singers, a mixed-voice ensemble from Grace Bible College. Kayleen has composed commissioned works for Grand Rapids Men and Boys’ Choir and Sola Scriptura.  She has recorded projects for Christian ministries, including Keys 2 Transport, Sola Scriptura and the Christian Reformed Church of America.  She has also self-published a book of piano hymn arrangements entitled “Rhapsodies of Piano Praise,” and a fourteen-book series on sacred piano improvisation entitled, “Hymnprovise.”
    Kayleen is married to her college sweetheart, Bill, and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren.  Her deepest desire is to bring glory to her Savior, Jesus Christ, with the gifts He has given her.

    Adam Wolf

    B.Mus. Worship Arts, Grace Bible College

    Adam Wolf is the Worship Arts Facilitator at Grace Bible College.  He is an alumni of Grace Bible College, and graduated with a Bachelors in Music in Worship Arts.  
    He has experience working full-time as a Worship Pastor at a local church, and has lead several worship teams/bands in several different venues across the state.  
    With a passion for Leading Worship and a deep love for music, Adam’s vision for the Worship at Grace Bible College is to "serve the campus by leading and creating an atmosphere of authentic and unforgettable worship". 
    God has certainly gifted Adam with the ability to engage people in worship.  Couple that with his heart and passion to help people see Jesus, and you will find he loves what he does!

  • Title: Drum Instructor

    Mark Weymouth

    Mark is a graduate of Drummers Collective in New York City where he had the opportunity to study with many top drummers including Mike Clark (Herbie Hancock) and Marvin “Smitty” Smith (Tonight Show). He also holds business degrees from Grand Valley State and Davenport Universities. Mark is currently a full-time freelance drummer in the West Michigan area. His home church is Resurrection Life Church in Grandville, but also serves other area ministries including Fair Haven and Hark Up. Mark has also played numerous dates around Michigan and Los Angeles with Ken Reynolds and can be found sharing the drum chair on his latest collaborative recording "Higher" (Reslife Worship). He has also served with other notable worship artists including John Chisum, Curt Coffield, Jared Anderson and Michael Gungor.Born and raised in the metro-Detroit area, Mark grew up on a variety of influences including Jazz, R&B, Funk, and Latin. He is excited to share his love and respect for all music and help guide his students on their musical journeys.

    Bea Sloothaak

    Bea Sloothaak is an adjunct professor of strings at GBC. She has completed coursework at Fort Wayne Bible College, Grand Rapids Community College, and an Associate of Arts at Grace Bible College. In addition to her role at Grace Bible College, she maintains a music studio where she provides string lessons for students of all ages.

    A native of Detroit, Michigan, Phil Holmes is an experienced performer, worship pastor, arts administrator, and voice instructor who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of all his students.  Recent appointments include a summer assignment in the Office of Development at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.  Currently residing in Allendale, Michigan with his wife Melody and his golden retriever Oliver, Mr. Holmes enjoys motorcycle riding, cooking, University of Michigan Athletics, meaningful conversation, and travel. / /

    Jake LaMotte

    Jake "Jocko" LaMotte is a native of Garrett, Indiana, and is a junior at Grace Bible College in the Worship Arts Department, serving as the Chapel Sound Technician. Jake has been involved in music since 2005, and decided to follow the Lord's calling into a worship career in 2013. Jake is very passionate about missions and ministry. He spent Spring Break of 2014, 2015, and 2016 in Puerto Rico as a part of Grace Bible College missions trips.
    Jake's current ministries include sitting on GBC's Student Government, as well co-operating an online social media ministry called "NotofTheNorm". Jake is excited to further God's kingdom by serving His people, and he is excited to further his career into worship arts and ministry.

    Mary Pryer

    Mary Pryer is the Music Theory Assistant at Grace Bible College. She is a senior at Grace Bible College in the worship arts program. Mary was also a student music tutor during her time at Montcalm Community College where she received an associates degree in Liberal Studies.
    Mary has been involved with worship ministries for seven years and has been involved with music from the very young age of six. Mary enjoys playing bluegrass, Jazz, southern gospel and worship music. She loves teaching and is passionate about seeing fellow students accomplish their goals in music theory.

    David Stout

    David Stout grew up the youngest of four musically talented brothers and his passion for music continues to grow every year. David is currently an up and coming artist in Grand Rapids and enjoys playing as much as possible with his band. David plays guitar and sings, but he also loves recording music and digging into new software and recording programs. He currently serves as the student lab manager for the worhsip arts department.
    Davids Interests: Jesus, Guitar, music equipment, and woodworking.

    KaBao Xiong

    KaBao is a senior in the Worship Arts program here at Grace. She is originally from Wisconsin. KaBao's main instrument of choice is guitar, which she have been playing for over 10 years now. She has been a part of her church music worship band for 8 years.
    KaBao's passion falls not only on serving in music ministry but in using music to bridge the gap between those who do not know or have Jesus' saving grace.
