    Tigers Defeat #5 Northland International University, 81-73

    In a game that was close throughout until the final minutes, the Tigers put together 40 minutes of solid play and came away with an important 81-73 win against the #5 nationally ranked Pioneers of Northland International University Thursday evening in the opening round of the NCCAA Midwest Region Tipoff Tournament. The win should move Grace up in the national rankings but more importantly it was rewarding to the coaches and players who have worked hard over the last week to improve areas of weakness.     Tigers Handle Moody, 76-60, Move to 3-0 in Midwest Region

    The Tigers met Moody Bible Institute Friday night in the second round of the Midwest Region Tip Off Tournament, and came away with a decisive 76-60 victory. Coach Gary Bailey played all 12 Tigers that dressed a minimum of seven and a half minutes, with eleven of them playing double digit minutes. “It was a solid win for us,” said Bailey. “We have a long road trip tomorrow to play NCAA D1 Western Illinois University so it was important that our bench be able to give us some good minutes tonight, and they did.” Full Article >

    Tigers Run Out of Gas at Lake Michigan College

    The Tigers battled a veteran Lake Michigan College team last night very hard, but ran out of gas in the second eventually falling 80-61. The intense battle was back forth for much of the first half with a quick spurt at the end of the half put Lake Michigan up 7 at halftime. ” I really like the way we played today, but I think we hit a wall with about 10 minutes left in the second half.” This is our second game in two days against up tempo teams, plus we only have 9 guys, we just ran out of gas.” Said Coach Oldebekking. ” They were still playing hard, I just don’t think they had it in the tank.” The Tigers hit back to back threes with 12 minutes to go to cut the lead to 7, but were never able to get any closer.     Tigers fall to Golden Eagles

    The Tigers played hard, but couldn’t keep up with a very good Cornerstone JV, losing 89-61. The Golden Eagles jumped on the Tigers early and methodically built a 50-26 halftime lead. ” Cornerstone is a very good JV team, they have a lot guys who have been on that team for a few years and do a nice job.” explained a dejected coach Oldebekking after the game. ” We did some good things in this game though, we had 17 offensive rebounds and we kept our turnovers down which is nice.” ” They got out in transition in the second half and we had a hard time stopping them, but in the second half it was much better.” Full Article >

    Grace struggles in second half, falls to SVSU

    Saginaw, MI – The Grace Tigers traveled to the eastside of the state tonight to attempt to upset the undefeated Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals (NCAA DII). Right off of the tip the Tigers seemed ready to play, battling the Cardinals back and forth for the first 20 minutes. Grace found themselves trailing by only two points (37-35) at the half after a spectacular coast to coast bucket by freshman Jared Bradford as the clock expired. Full Article >
